- A Saluki major - a first place worth 3 or more points - takes 4 starters in every region.
- Second place earns 3 points when the first place is worth 5, 2 when it is worth 4, and 1 when it is worth 3. Third place earns 2 or 1.
- A Field Champion (FC) needs 15 points with 2 majors under 2 different judges. After the FC, 45 more points from the Specials or Veterans stake earn each Lure Courser Excellent (LCX) level.
