Common questions
How are Fast CAT points calculated?
Miles per hour times the handicap. A 34.36 mph run by a dog 18 inches or taller earns 34.36 points; a smaller dog's speed is multiplied by 1.5 or 2.
How many runs does an FCAT take?
About 1,000 divided by your dog's points per run. A dog earning 30 points a run needs about 34 runs.
Is there a Fast CAT ranking?
Yes. AKC ranks dogs by breed on the average of their 3 fastest runs each year, and the top 10 per breed are invited to the Fast CAT Invitational.
